Firstly it is scary that someone with a name so similar to mine is doing the same thing as myself in this world.

But great post. One other little technique I like to do especially when you have multiple rounds of approvals and different designers working on the same file, is to label the layer of any stock imagery used with id of the image and the stock library you got it from. So if any one else has to use the file they can find the image super quick.

It's very interesting post. Having dropped fireworks many years ago when I could actually afford real copy photoshop. I wondered why adobe kept making it. I have not thought to go back and check it out.

I will definitely go have another look at some of its features. Will be very interesting to see how hard it would be to transition my work flow back to it.

Another thing I've started doing when sending over a file is adding a notes and redlines [blueprint] on an additional layer. (i.e. 10px margin here 5px padding here) It only takes 5 or 10 minutes and is a quick reference if there are any questions.

This redesign doesn't make sense to me in terms of error-proofing. The "clear" and "Cancel" buttons can be hit by mistake, frustrating the user. How about putting them away from the alphanumeric pad?

I became a Fireworks Evangelist for web design since Photoshop's workflow is so unproductive from sketching to releasing.

As for emailings: by using fireworks html & export features, you can decrease by half the time you need to integrate a design.

I'll add one: to make the process of creating a background graphic for a button or some other element that's going to require a "sliding doors" technique, make use of the 9-slice property in the symbols. Then the dev should only oversize that symbol and export :D

Looking good so far. Unfortunately as designers we are our worst critics. I think I have successfully designed my personal site about 29 times over and successfully scrap'd it 29 times in hopes of the next one being better. It's frustrating, but I think your site is accomplishing what it needs to as far as communicating who you are, what you've done and what you are capable of.
